The reference guide
What light does a green wall really need?
Light is the first survival factor of a vertical garden, before watering. Three parameters decide everything: the amount of light energy, the spectrum and the daily light cycle. Here are the benchmarks we use in every one of our studies.
Enough useful energy (PPFD)
Plants do not consume lumens but photons useful for photosynthesis. A decorative spotlight delivers far too few to maintain dense foliage. Our studies target the right intensity for your species, from shade ferns to more demanding plants.
The right spectrum, beautiful and effective
Our EVG+ spectrum combines warm white and cool white for a light close to daylight, around 4120 K. Plants grow, and foliage keeps its true colours. No compromise between plant health and the look of the space.
A steady rhythm
An indoor green wall, often planted with tropical species, needs a long and regular light day. A simple timer does the job. We tell you the right duration for your wall in the study.
The layout rules
Placing the fixtures well is 80% of the result
- R1Set back about one third of the wall height.
For a 3 m wall, place the track about 1 m from the wall. The light then sweeps the full height without flattening the relief of the plants.
- R2Space the fixtures by the same distance as the setback.
The beams overlap and the wall receives even light, with no shadow zone where plants would decline.
- R3Light from top to bottom.
Plants orient themselves towards the light. Overhead lighting reproduces the sun and keeps a natural habit.
- R4Aim for a uniformity of at least 0.4.
The ratio between minimum and average illuminance must stay above 0.4. This is exactly what we check in our photometric studies.

Our expertise
The EVG+ spectrum, our horticultural signature
We design our fixtures in France, specifically for ornamental plants. No pink grow light, no restyled decorative spot: a spectrum engineered to feed the plant and flatter the space.

True colours, no filter
With a CRI above 95, the purples of a calathea and the deep greens of a fern stay faithful. That is the difference between a lit green wall and a staged green wall.

Designed for installers
350° rotation, 90° tilt, standard single-circuit track mounting: our fixtures fit new or existing installations and can be re-aimed as your plants grow.
FAQ
Green wall lighting: your questions, our answers
Which lighting should I choose for an indoor green wall?
Horticultural LED lighting with a continuous white spectrum, sized for the wall surface. Standard decorative spotlights do not provide enough energy for photosynthesis: the wall survives a few months and then thins out. Our T60S and T60 track fixtures are designed exactly for this use.
How many hours a day should a green wall be lit?
Between 10 and 14 hours a day, continuously and at regular times, depending on the species. Most green wall plants are tropical in origin and expect a long light day. A timer costing a few euros settles the matter. The precise duration is given in each of our studies.
At what distance from the wall should the fixtures be placed?
The golden rule: a setback of about one third of the wall height, and a spacing between fixtures equal to that setback. For a 3 m wall, place the track about 1 m away with one fixture every metre. The beams overlap and the light stays even from top to bottom.
Is a standard LED bulb or an LED strip enough?
No. A bulb or LED strip lights for the eye, not for the plant. Photosynthesis requires a photon intensity (PPFD) that these sources cannot reach at a distance from the wall. It is the first cause of green wall decline that we diagnose.
Do I need pink or purple light like indoor growing?
No, and that is the whole point of our EVG+ spectrum: a white light close to daylight, around 4120 K, which feeds plants as well as a classic horticultural spectrum while respecting the colours of the space and the foliage. Your green wall remains a decorative feature, not a grow tent.
Can an outdoor green wall be lit?
Yes, with waterproof equipment built for humidity and watering. Our GVL SPOT V5 floodlight, available from 30 to 200 W, is designed for planted façades, patios and greenhouses. We size the wattage to the surface and the available natural light.
Do you deliver outside France?
Yes. Our fixtures are designed in France and shipped from France worldwide. Shipping costs and lead times are detailed in the quote, whatever your destination.
